I have done a search here on "reading list" in Tabledit but none of them addressed the problem I am having.
I entered the notation. Then I opened the Reading list. I set number 1 to play measures 1 - 5. I set 2 to play 2 - 5. I set 3 to play 6 - 9. I set 4 to play 6 - 9.
I then selected all 4 and the word "END" in the list (highlighted) and clicked PLAY. It played the piece perfectly. Playing measures 1 thru 5 and then measures 2 thru 5 and then measures 6 thru 9 and finally measures 6 thru 9 again and stopped. So I then closed the Reading List window and SAVED the tab.
Then when I went to play it everything was messed up. I opened the Reading List again and the list was totally changed. [01] went from 2 - 5 instead of 1 - 5. [02] went from 2 - 9 instead of 2 - 5. [03] remained correct at 6 - 9. [04] was gone completely and went right to ...END...
I tried doing it multiple times and each time it ended up like this screen shot with only three in the list instead of four.
I have attached two screen shots...one is with what I want and the other shows the messed up three in the list instead of four.
Need help. Thanks if you can.

I think the passages 2-5 and 6-9 is brought together to one set 2-9 since they are adjacent (when 2-5 is played followed by 6-9 it is the same as 2-9).
I tested with putting up 1-5, 2-5, 6-9, 6-9 and it resulted in 1-5,2-9, 6-9 which is exactly the same when played, see the picture below). However I don't understand why you get the first set in the beginning as 2-5 instead of 1-5?

I'm not at home where I can test this...but you probably need to actually have something in measure 1, like a whole rest. Otherwise, the system may be seeing no data in measure 1 and 'adjusting' your reading list to start when the data starts, which is measure 2.
Try adding a rest in measure 1 and see what happens.

Thanks guys. Those replies helped. I changed it to [01] 1 - 5, [02] 2 - 9, [03] 6 - 9. And that worked. Thanks again. Wouldn't have figured it out had it not been for all your comments.

You may already know this, but it's important also to make sure you put your cursor in the 1st measure before starting the playback. Otherwise, regardless of how you programmed the reading list, it will start playing where your cursor is. And it ignores the reading list.

Thanks Tobus...yes that took some time to figure out. And Trapdoor, it worked without having to add the rest.

Glad to hear you fixed it. I was going to ask if you had set the song to have a pickup measure. I think that affects measure numbering. How did you actually fix this so that the reading list started on measure 1 as you entered and did not change to measure 2?
michaelws - Posted - 04/26/2017: 14:34:10
Hehe. Old Hickory I do not know. I am just using the first measure blank to get the intro beats. I am re-learning after another extended hiatus away from my banjo. I will probably go back after a few weeks and delete that first empty measure. So if there are pickup notes in the first measure then I set the [02] to start at 2. Seems to work. Not sure why. Actually even with the first measure completely empty it does play it (beats only) if I set the reading list to start at 1. And then I set [02] to start at 2. Thrilled that it is working perfectly for me.

Not to be a nag, but you have downloaded the User Manual, right?

Yes Brad I have. but the part on the Reading List was too vague for me to understand.

I understand, it's just that there are a lot of people who never think about having a Users Manual. I am a paper-page text oriented guy, when it comes to technical things. I was a telephone engineer for several years back at the start of electronic switching and had to write step-by-step instructions for additions and upgrades to the switch. My first operating system on personal computers was CP/M, and I've always wanted to have the hardcopy manual available. It's my biggest gripe about modern computer programs - no manual, so I always grab it if it is available.

For me the sequences:
01 1-5
02 2-5
03 6-9
03 6-9
should become:
01 1-5
02 2-9
03 6-9
Any other change would be a bug.
