I thought I had this problem nailed so I apologize for raising it once again

Here's my original post and the advice I was given.

So I am trying to adjust the arrow direction and value using the Shift and  < > carrots as suggested by Sean Ray  but nothing is happening. I am using TablEdit Ver 2.76 a2e on a PC

I am sure this worked before.  Just wondering if this feature has been disabled for some reason.

It's so frustrating when your trying to get some work done and these gremlins get in the way.

I just checked on v2.76 (Mac) and the shift + <> still works. It's possible they changed the keyboard shortcuts on the PC version but I doubt it.

Are you sure you're applying a choke and not a bend? If you use a bend then you need to type in the number of the fret for the note you're bending to. The shift/carrots only works on chokes (c).

Hi Sean

I have tried both. Choke gives me an 1/4 Up arrow where as the Bend gives me -1 Down arrow. Usinh the Shift + < > does not change the value.

There is a different between bends and chokes in TablEdit.

The > and < don't work for me either in the bends on Windows.I can see nothing in the manual that > or < shall be used in connection with bends. However they can be used in connection with chokes. When you choke a string you will get a +1/4 by default, but highlighting the string and press Shift + > will rise to 1/2 and further more 1/4 higher for each time you press.

However according to TablEdit manual the way to write a bend is:

"A simple bend is created by first entering two notes on

the same string. The first note is the initial pitch and the

second note the pitch to be achieved by the bend."

If you want a bend and release you have to right the initial note, the pitch of the bended note and the final note (which usually is the same as the initial).

No not the Simple Bend that just has an arrow pointing down with -1. I think for the Bend to change value it requires a bracket note following the note being bent i.e. 5  (4)

The 'shift + < or >' is only for adjusting the pitch of chokes (1/4, 1/2, etc). As Jack showed, simple bends require you to type the note that is being bent to right after the bend is applied. The brackets will be automatically added to the final bent pitch.

The arrows (carat signs) only change the value of the "choked" note being played. The direction of the forward or backward carat sign only determines the value of the bend...See PDF below Tam and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think it's important to get the terms correct...Jack
