So, just guessing the ballpark, what would the ballpark be? Jim Mills has the sibling, "The Clanger," don't remember ballpark discussions about that one, but what would the approx-ish range be for The Banger?

Wasn't JD playing a fairly new Gold Star (vintage now) that belonged to somebody else on at least one of the Bluegrass Album Band recordings? If so, that adds proof for us mere mortals that it is in the hands, as much as the banjo.

I believe that you are thinking of J D's use of Richard Keldsen's RB-75 on at least two of the Bluegrass Album Band's recordings. Keldsen owns Saga Musical Instruments and markets banjos under Saga and Gold Star brands which included the discontinued G20-JD model.

No, but he used the late Billy McCaleb's Crowe Model at a concert that the BGAB played at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco after they recorded Vol. 2 (I think).
