Key of A – A Tuning –aEAC#E

In this, Tunetorial number 28, Dan "Clawdan" Levenson teaches a less often played tune, The Three Way Hornpipe.

This tune is tune number 51 in Old Time Favorites for Clawhammer Banjo (MB 30224)

Dan got this tune originally from the recording by Joe Sharp and Band from the album Traditional Music of the Cumberland Plateau, volume 2. Originally on County Recordings, the original release seems to be currently out of print though he did find several ways to stream the tune by googling the title. There are several other recordings out there but to Dan that one is the best so it is worth the look to find it.

You can purchase the video lesson (for unlimited streaming and download) here on the Banjo Hangout for $6.

Dan and I would love to hear any feedback you have on these videos, so feel free to post or email us. Our goal here is provide a steady, affordable way for people to learn a new clawhammer tune weekly (or as often as they'd like).

It would be great to hear some of your versions so far so post them here for all to hear!
