I never intended to write another waltz but sometimes things just happen... You don't hear a lot of waltzes on banjo either - probably better on fiddle, but I gave up on that instrument long ago!

I like it. My feeling, here in Eugene, is that Cascadia has needed a waltz

Waltzes were very popular on the banjo back in the 1880's-1910's period. Not country waltzes like this one but banjoistic versions of the European dance form.

Beautiful! You have such a gift of creation that i do not have. And its clean, which is at least as important as anything else. Assuming youre in c or therabouts, i love the part going to Bb. Always a pleasure to listen to your music.

Laurence, I listened to this waltz more, and it's growing on me. I want to try to learn to clawhammer it. I'll have to simplify, and loose some nuance in the process. Nonetheless, maybe it can contain some of the wistfulness that your version owns.

Thanks Jimi, the ending was an afterthought but when it came to me I knew right away it was what the tune needed. And I will always be a Beatles fan!

It causes me to reminisce about my time in Washington State, when I and a friend were alpine climbing. Laurence, this song really captures the peacefulness and beauty of those great mountains.
