This favorite fiddle tune by favorite Alabama fiddler James Bryan is clawhammered in double C tuning, thanks in part to lessons I've had with Adam using fingering positions up-the-neck. The next thing I'll have to learn is how to chord along in this tuning with Kit when we play this together, as I do on an MP3 on my homepage music. We take turns soloing and backing each other with banjo and mandolin.
It's said that Mack Blalock wrote this tune after being laid-off from a mill job in Georgia. He went back home to Alabama. James Bryan added the C part, which sounds to me like Mr. Blalock anxiously heading home.
Hope you enjoy!

That's beautiful. I know that this is a hard song to play, b/c I've tried and failed ![]()
Maybe I'll pick it up and try again with the tab. Thanks for giving us another fine performance.
I was only familiar with the version by Chris Coole and Ivan Rosenberg which I absolutely love. I think I've listened to that 100x.
Well done Janet!!
