In response to a question in topic

banjohangout.org/topic/269018/2

I put a neck and ONE  string on a Roland PD7 electronic drum module, to see if it would pick up a string vibration as well as it picks up a drumstick hit.

Here's how a set looks on eBay

And my attachments should show how I've done, so far.

Am busy with other projects, so it might be quite a while [ IF EVER ]before I make a full 5-string out of it.

But, it DID pick up the string sound.

Here's the high nut, fretless, experimental MP3

Thanks for posting this up. I never ceases to me amazed by the generosity of knowledge on this site and you certainly lead the pack, Mike. Much obliged.

Thanks for the compliment.

I may be somewhere near the lead, in the generosity of SHARING my knowledge, but, let's face the harsh reality:

My knowledge is mostly about how to cobble a few lumps of [ expletive deleted ] together, while those with  knowledge of how to craft some really beautiful and valuable instruments are equally generous.

Helix, Ritchie Dotson, Yates, and others come easily to mind.
