I have been a fan of Travis Wright's playing (SCClawman) from the start, so it is totally my pleasure to post this duet of us playing Soldiers Joy together. The idea for the arrangement of CH/3-finger style on this tune comes from a now classic recording by John McEuen and Earl on the Will the Circle Be Unbroken album. I don't think we ended up sounding anything like them, but it was our inspiration anyway!

Thanks for the invitation to partner with you! As you well know I'm a big fan of your playing as well, and it was an honor to collaborate with you on this. Very thankful for the experience! Hopefully one day we can meet and play it in person! Although, technology is pretty awesome to allow 2 people on opposite sides of the US to record a song together.

But seriously guys... very nice stylistic contrast... anchored nicely by the steady clawhammer with Laurence adding some lovely flourishes and fill.  Kudos gents!

I LIKE Soldier's Joy - It's one of the few genuine old fiddle tunes that I actually play!

soldiers joy, to me, has always been the perfect bluegrass song. i think it would be the song, if someone asked:' hey, what does bluegrass sound like?' that i would play for them. your version is just beautiful. thanks for posting.
