Had a very pleasant surprise this weekend. I was invited by a friend to small festival on the banks of Lake Sam Rayburn in East Texas, known as Martin's Christian Jubilee. My friend knew that the Marksmen, a bluegrass gosple band was going to be there, but didn't know who else was going to be there. Much to my pleasant surprise, a big black bus pulled in Friday evening, and it was the Larry Stevenson Band. I got to see Big K pick Sonny's banjo, and man did he do a great job. He is certainly one solid banjo player, and that is one solid banjo.

Glenn, Kenny is an an a active member of the BHO, and a frequent participant in the ChatRoom. Kenny is the real deal and one of the best; if not the best Scruggs Style pickers out there today. He will be glad to hear you enjoyed the show!

Thanks Glenn for your kind words about the Martin Jubilee.   I've played that a couple of times with the LSB & its always a great place to play & visit. I kid Larry a lot about "The Vega" being the star of the show. It is sure an eye catcher & a joy to play.

Hi Big K,

Looks like you and the LS Band will be at the Huck Finn Jubilee this coming Father's Day weekend. This is the Los Angeles area's biggest annual festival. Would love to come by and say 'howdy', maybe even purchase a lesson from you! Would love to see that banjo as well...

It's gonna be a monster festival this year with a great line up, too. Ricky Skaggs, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, the Rambling Rooks -- who's gonna pick banjer for them?! -- Special Consensus, Bluegrass Etc. (with Dennis Caplinger)... yeah, it'll be a good one.

But although I love to be out and picking most of the time, I will most definitely catch Big K and the boys... yeah!

Lots of bands come to the Huck Finn festival to play for two days then come to the CBA's Father's Day festival in Grass Valley. Other bands do just the opposite, playing the CBA fest first & then going down to Huck Finn. I'm going to the CBA fest on Saturday specifically to see Kenny play.
