I know this isn't for everyone, but I like this kind of stuff. I had it leaning against the wall and my musician/biker brother walked by and commented; "For Sale, Girl's banjo"!

It is wild roses with a California song sparrow done with acrilics and ink on a 63' Gibson RB170.

If I remember correctly, many players on the Irish Tenor web site paint their banjo heads - some are very creative and unique.

I dig that sort of thing, whether it's feminine florals or strong, masculine celtic knot on an Irish tenor banjo. As far as that being "manly" or not, it's your instrument, and your opinion is the only one that matters. I recently bought a vintage tenor banjo with a nice rose inlay or decal (couldn't tell which from the ebay pictures and haven't received it yet) on the resonator, done in black. If anyone gives me a hard time, I'll tell them it's my Roísin Dubh, my black rose(a very old and deeply meaningful image for the Irish).

I was once given an old tenor with three black jazz musicians painted on the head. (Wish I still had it. It "walked away" from my school.) Check out the various designs on the Decoration group's page.

I don't care about the "girl banjo" remark-he's my older brother and we goof on each other all the time. I worked as a sign painter for some years and still I paint birds and wild flowers espessially hawks and falcons. I was a falconer for a few years. Here's a couple drawings.

I'm working on a top view of a trumpeter swan in pearl for a headstock.

I really like your work , especially because it brings natural pictures and icons to the front.

Tough guys decorate themselves with tatoos.

A banjo is definitely an axe, a little filigree never hurt the sharp edge.
