Has anyone ever tried putting Nylon Strings on a 5 string resonator ? I know this sounds weird, but I once saw a video on Youtube, and I think the person used Nylon Guitar Strings. The Strange thing is it didn't sound half bad. The Banjo really put out a decent sound. If anyone ever did try this, how did you put the strings on ? Since I have Loop End Steel Banjo Strings and the Nylon Guitar Strings have a Ball or Nothing on the ends.

Yes I have had Nyguts on my Jedson w/ the resonator. With this disclaimer: I don't play bluegrass and don't use picks. I play old-time and claw/frail on it. The sound was sweet and of course you can play nylguts all day long. I also have a "banjo tone enhancer" (look that up here on BHO). The combination of nylguts/resonator/enhancer was pleasant and fairly loud. Having said that, I missed the tone of the Jedson White Lady (sp) w/ steel so as the nylguts were nearing the end of their cycle, I changed back to steel last week. It was a great and successful experiment and I'll probably have nylguts on that banjo again some day.
As for attaching... I use a bowline for my knots. You have to make your own loop w/ that knot at the end of the string. There are a couple of other knots or methods to use / attach nylguts. Search that here on BHO and you'll find many threads about it... get it, threads. Also search and read more threads about nylguts if you haven't used them before. Make sure you have no sharp edges that they pass over, give them a few days to stretch and have fun.

After the earthquake, we'll all be using .080 trimmer line or so. Get some in stock. New Jersey allows the use of Resonator and nylon, progressive, I would say.
