That neck may well be old. If it's not a Ode knock-off, perhaps the maker was influenced by Epiphone, which had similar if not identical neck laminations and headstock shape. Interesting find.

It's DEFINITELY a c.1962-'63 ODE 52-hole archtop Series 30 SANDCAST rim.


It's a 24-bracket version. There were also 28-bracket versions made.


(There was also a later Series 30 DIECAST rim - it shared the modular rim


used for the Series 40 diecast model.)



The flange is from another banjo, or perhaps an 'aftermarket' flange. The


original braket holes DO NOT match the ODE spacing.



The neck COULD be from a 1930's banjo. (My old computer won't let me access


Javascript -- so I can't 'see' the resonator or other photos)



There's a possibility that it was orignally an ODE Grade 2 neck with a "square"


peghead ('fly-swatter') that's been recut and refinished.

PS: THe ODE "Style D" peghead shape was BASED on the profile of the


NYC Epiphones -- with waist-cuts added by Mr. Ogsbury. So there IS


a reason it LOOKS like an NY Epiphone. The ODE Style A and the Baldwin


Style Two did NOT have the 'waist-cuts'. So the perimeter is almost identical.
