I'm happy to be able to share the design I've worked up with Jim Reed for his new CD project entitled, "Jim Reed Family & Friends."
Over the last week or so I've been working with Jim on the cover art, which include the tray card, the print on the CD itself, and all the graphic elements to make that happen for Jim. It helps that Jim's daughter is a professional photographer and has taken some beautiful photos for me to work with.
I'm working with Jim on getting his CD replicated so in the near future this will "go to press." But for now, here's a sneak peak at the visual look of his CD.
All four images are part of the design, and it all goes together to form a completed, professionally designed and packaged CD.
It's been a real pleasure to work with Jim Reed on this stuff. He's a pretty cool guy.

Yeah it is cool. I'm doing this pro bono for Jim to help out and also dust off my design skills. i used to do this kind of stuff all the time. It's been a good thing for me to work on and Jim has a great project going and has been great to work with.
So, it's a digital collaboration of a different kind :) — all the artwork is digital!

Very nice Job! But lose the white soft drop shadow around the name - looks cheezy and makes his name look soft hard to read. You can brighten up the red a touch to make it more readable then over the background. Sorry, I work in media, I can help myself. :) Just my two cents overall.
PS. oh yeah, same with the soft white shadow around the info on the CD face. Clean plain dark black will work better.

Sorry, I disagree. I think it all looks great but I don't work in media.

LOL I disagree too. Done this for over 30 years. Every designer has an opinion, I've learned :)
The white glow and black glow makes it much easier to read, but thanks for the 2 cents!
Anyway, Jim likes it. I like it.

I've seen tons of photos of people over the years in my line of work.
I'll bet if you look hard enough, you will see Jim's hands — and his banjo — smiling!
