I received a banjo as a hand me down from a source, that I never got to speak with.

It has no markings of any kind indicating the brand name.

As far as I can tell it mostly resembles a Bart Reiter, like BLanham plays

The inlay is a bit sloppy on the peghead, and neck which kind of makes me believe it is either a knock off or a hand made copy.

Here is a couple pics,

Any body ever see one of these?

The back is open with only one rod and one brass fitting on the heel area which doesnt appear to have ever been a full rod.

Bart posts here. His username is "banjobart."   Why don't you ask him.

I've not seen a Reiter banjo with that peghead shape.

It looks to me like an old Stewart MacDonald neck.   It might be assembled from one of their "kits". Bart uses lots of Stew-Mac metal parts That might explain the similarity you see. T

Ahh! I suspected perhaps a handmade, The stewmac.com/freeinfo/a-...ilding.pdf picture on this manual is almost exact.

Thanks for your help Jbalch! Now I know what to tell people when they ask.

Banjolution, I never stated that it was a Bart R banjo, I merely said it resembled one.
