Tony, Thanks for the kind words and posting this to the Hangout. I've had the pleasure of owning this for the last 10 years, and I started out with the vintage 20 hole Huber ring. About 5 years ago we changed to a solid ring and it really seemed to kick up the lower end, but it lost some sweetness up top. I had Steve put the HR-30 in it at SPBGMA in 2010 and it has just been unbelievable since the first note. It has more power all over the neck and is very even, and I just wish I could play it as well as Jim. I had kind of lost my desire to play until Steve put the ring in. Since then I have been more enthused to practice and get better, even though gigs are few and far between in these parts. All I can say is if you have a banjo with a 30's rim or the new Engineered Rim, you will love this ring. I played quite a few new Hubers and older ones converted with the Engineered Rim and HR-30 ring and they are simply incredible. I played a vintage 3 that had been retrofitted that may be one of the best banjo's I have ever had in my hands outside the original flatheads I have played. It is as good as new can get, but i may be a little biased!

I just had the HR 30 put in my old kel kroydon with a walnut neck. It's got overtones that I've never heard before......I'm just loving it.

Keith's banjo is OUTSTANDING......loved the look on your face, right after it was installed........... PRICELESS.

Here is a video of Mills playing my 9489 cut 3 at Banjothon in January. The banjo is better today than then.

Don't mean to hijack the subject banjo, but the ring is........well.

Pretty much note for note the way Earl played both tunes.

Hey Dave! I forgot you were in the room....it's all a blur! Thanks buddy and that 3 is outstanding as well. I am sure glad Jim made it to the Banjothon this year! That is a fun time for banjo's and good friends!

Later!

Keith, I have a FF rim that has been in a few years, and I have the original Huber ring and love it. I have heard this clip of your banjo, as well as picked Jim's recently updated Huber Mills model with the HR, and wondered if this ring might work on my old wood rim.
