Anytime I see a picker 45+, I send this link. I know 3 cats over 50 that were much happier with something like this , rather than the tiny, less intiuative, H2, DR-07, DR-08 etc types. I tried to find the thread with an 2009 discussion about the H2 vrs the tascam DR and DP units but couldnt.
Anyway, the only thing I see benifical about the Tascam is that it records at 24/96 , which in all honesty, if your just recording 1-2-3 tracks, your not gonna hear much difference between 16/44 and 24/96 WAVs.
Heres a unit more suited for non techy people with real knobs like analog units for around the same price. ![]()

Personally, Id rather carry around a laptop with recording software![]()
Just some other options to consider.

I'm over 65 and without a doubt about as non-techy a person as you could find. But I love the Zoom H2 for recording my practicing. Easy to use, clear instructions. I don't use the earbuds that come with it, though. I substitute a Walkman-type headset.

not having either, a question (based on some responses I've read): does either have a monitor out jack, for use with headphones?
I'm guessing the answer is 'yes' but just checking.

Zooms and Tascams both have headphone outs - or had them in the past.
