Finally finished my first banjo. All of the hardware is Stew Mac and all of the wood components I made from scratch. I tried to design an "original" inlay pattern and peg head shape, if there is such a thing anymore. I think it sounds great. Thanks to the folks on this site and others who were kind enough to provide information as I worked on this project. I just need to learn how to play it now.

That's beautiful,Walt.
Stew Mac makes good parts and you do good work.

That banjo ought to take you a long way.

Wow, that's really pretty. I like how you tied the design of the truss rod cover and the headstock inlay together. Where did you get those inlays?

I will be starting a second banjo soon. I am concentrating on the inlay design now.

I designed the inlays on this banjo myself. I bought the raw Mother of perl and abalone from Stew Mac

You have built a beautiful banjo, and I bet it sounds as good as it looks. I too, like your truss rod cover and how it is part of your inlay pattern.

VERY NICE! I applaud your good work and creativity. It's refreshing to see someone doing original designs and not copying Gibson patterns.

Your use of different colors of MOP is wonderful and so is your peghead shape. Keep up the good work!

Simply beautiful! I love the curly maple on the back of the resonator. The side wall of the resonator looks like oak - is that right?

What is the rim made from? And do you have any pictures that show the construction process?

Thanks for the good words folks.

The side of the resonator is made from oak. In its previous life it was part of a very old solid oak bar top. The bar top had to of been 16 feet long and the boards were glued together with hide glue. I wish it could talk, the stories it could have told.

I did not document the construction of this project well. I will the next one.
