Truetone banjo's neck is back to the double cut peghead and traditional inlays? Looks and sounds great!

super sounding & looking traditional style banjo - i am glad Steve is still on the hunt for great tone!

banjoken - Posted - 09/29/2010:  17:22:32

Cost of the rim is on the huber website. They show two different inlay patterns in that video, not banjo photos on huber banjos though.

Does anyone know the name of the song playing in the background of that youtube video?

Majorbanjo - Posted - 10/02/2010:  05:32:56

Home Sweet Home.....is the song...

OSCAR82AA - Posted - 10/02/2010:  17:54:55

I think Steve Huber is really doing some big things there.

Alot of experiments and thinking goes into a Huber.

banjodr - Posted - 10/03/2010:  14:23:01

Steve sold seven of nine banjos available at IBMA and one more this morning (Monday). Steve has the style 75 with the amber tulip tuning buttons maple neck with sort of a Mills model inlay still available. This was my favorite of the litter. Congrats to Steve, Doc Rae, and Bryan. On a side note, I hope this signals an uptick in the overall banjo market for everyone. Also check out my Huber custom in the classifieds with the new rim and ring set up.

I agree. It was my favorite of all the Hubers. I played it 3 or 4 times. This banjo along with Yates and the Sullivan Vintage 35 were my favorite Masterclones.

Prewar3 - Posted - 10/04/2010:  14:21:56

Huber really has it with the new rim and ring. I personally have a one year old Ron Block model with the new HR-30 ring and a newer VRB-75 with the new ring. Both banjos are CANNONS. I spent most of my time at IBMA at Steves booth and watched him sell 8 of the 9 banjos he bout, which was a good thing cause I was trying to figure out how to buy another one. Great banjos with top quality craftsmanship and custom service. Keep up the great work guys. Jim Mulford, Floyd. virginia

I picked on the Huber at IBMA. A very impressive banjo. Steve was a pleasure to talk to.

Banjov1 - Posted - 10/05/2010:  13:06:37

I picked everything I could at the IBMAs on Friday and Saturday. Sometimes I'd find a model that I'd really like, play it for a few minutes and then hop over to the Huber booth and play one of the Truetones. As far as tone goes, IMO nothing really came close to the Huber Truetones. They were just amazing banjos. I'd love to get one.

lethegoodtimesroll,
I have a few pics. on my homepage of my Truetone. I really like this banjo.

Nice video with soundfiles. Great to use for comparisons between makers.

Steve; your Truetone sounds great

DIV - Posted - 10/06/2010:  14:03:31

Impressive! I love the looks of the Truetone (esp the classy and understated name block on the fretboard)...I think Steve Huber really re-ignited the quest for the holy grail when he developed the Huber ring and he got right back into the race with his new advancements!

Kudos!

I have only seen pics of the front view of the Truetone . Do they do a sunburst finish on the resonator, is it made of maple or mahagony?. I wonder when they will post some pics and a price on their website. If anyone recently purchased one, send us some pics and what they are going for.
Curious minds want to know!!
Thanks

At the IBMAs they had mahogany maple and walnut models. Sunburst and brown. They basically look like the old Lancaster, Roanoke, Lexington and Berkshire models except they now have a different signature block and the new rim and ring.

Now that is what I've been looking for. Sending them an email today.
Thank you.

basically I think there is a maple sunburst Truetone almost ready that wasn't quite ready at IBMA so give them a shout

bdaa86 - Posted - 10/07/2010:  14:56:04

Ok, I guess I'm slow. Where on the Huber website are the new Truetone banjo's shown? I've looked around a fair bit, but I can't seem to find them. Or, have they just not been added yet?

I'm curious to see what the various models look like. Anyone have a pointer/link?

Thanks,
Bill

For those interested in some pictures of a custom Huber Truetone, here are some of mine. I am fortunate enough to own some prewars. The truetone holds it own. Play one for yourself and then a prewar. I think you will be pleased. Form your own opinion through your own experience.

Congrats on you nice Huber.

My mahogany gold truetone is great here are some pictures. The IBMA banjos were mostly more traditional looks. This banjo is kind of a Mills model inspiration.

I ordered my" dream banjo" Custom Truetone Monday. It will look like the Lexington but , changed the engraving to the deluxe style, added Keith D tuners , the tuners will be the amber color and changed the inlay to the Flying Eagle, peg head will be a double cut. Now I have to wait 6 months to get the banjo of my dreams. I'm still in shock!

I guess Steve is really busy. I been trying to check into getting his new engineered rim put on my Huber. I left a message a while back but never returned my call. I keep calling & keep getting a voice message. I hope everything is okay with Steve & that he's just busy.
