This is the only studio recording of this song that I know of. "Foggy Mountain Landscape" appeared on my first personal CD "Good "Fa-Air" Side", in 1998. The song is 100% live with 0 edits of any kind. Band members are: John Hartford - banjo, Mike Compton - mandolin, Gene Libbea - acoustic bass, and Chris Sharp - guitar. Hope you enjoy it!

An interesting listening experience; somewhat disquieting at time. Man, he's getting some mournful sounds out those tuners - a wide range of expressiveness. The guy was quite an explorer. Thanks for posting.

Brilliant, how I do wish I could have gotten to see him perform just once.

Loved it! John took risks! - but what comes through most clearly is how much this guy loved to play the banjo. Unfiltered, from the heart.

I've had my copy of the Good Fa-Air Side for some time now, a great album overall and that cut tops it off.
When Tony Trischka played a show out here about 5 years ago, he performed a wonderful version of Foggy Mt. Landscape he said he'd learned off a live tape. After the show I told him about this recorded version and he was excited to learn about it. Thanks for posting this Chris.

I've watched the small video clip of this tune on the Deering site numerous times. Thanks for posting this recording.

Phenominal
Real musicianship
He had a VERY funny sense of humor with a fantastic imagination
I saw John play solo once in the early 1970s. John played a set and then Ry Cooder came on and played a solo set. Quite an incredible evening.
Thanks Chris
Best Wishes,
Tom
