I just found this site and find it very interesting. I have a Iida EST.1958 225 Banjo with case. I've had it for years (bought in 1986) and want to know what it is worth.
I live in a spanish country (Costa Rica) there are not alot of Banjos down here except maybe on the Caribbean side. Anyone know how much it is worth. Thank you Rubia

if you have pictures, it would be great if you could post those. that will help in estimating how much your banjo is worth.

I saw some where on the intertubes that you could "guess" the price of an old banjo by its weight. I don't remember where that was though.

The Iida 225 is shown in the IIda catalog from 1976 as having a die cast aluminum rim - what some of us call a "Bottle cap" banjo with the integral flange, but with 24 brackets rather than the more common 30 brackets found on most Asian aluminum rim "Bottle cap" banjos. Just as a guess, probably not much more than $200-250 if it's in good shape. It wasn't one of Iida's premium models. Some of us like aluminum rims, though, especially those of us who have back problems.

I''ll never play like Earl Scruggs or sing like Luciano Pavarotti, but I''ll pick better than Luciano and sing tenor better than Earl
