My Nechville is a Classic Deluxe, With a Cocobolo Wood Tone Ring,, It is fabulous, and weighs only 7 lbs. The (Athena) model Tom builds is even less than 7 lbs, and all His banjo's are just a great Joy to play, I could list ALL the GREAT feature Tom's banjo's have, that others do not,, But it would cover this whole page,,, Just Try one, Youll want one.. (The Wood sounds So Good)

I'd love to hear a Nechville, and a BHO member offered when in my area. Not sure if I can make the times and travels work, though.

I am currently going back-and-forth with Ome: They have a 'mystery woody' in the closet.....The Plot thickens!!!

Well, I've been foolin' around figgerin' out how to make a cup-o-phone wood tone ring like my old Stromberg. I think I've pretty will got it going. When I get it mounted in some kind of pot I'll see if I can get it on my (soon to be started) sound file. I really like my old Stromberg better than any banjo I've played so maybe a woody cup-o-phone would suit my ear.

This may be all too late, I was researching wooden tone ring design, because I bought some Granadillo and want to make one for a friends banjo. I have a Deering Hartford and a Prucha Bat. When I bought the Prucha I thought I'd never want anothe banjo... until I heard the and played the Hartford. Now I have to force myself to play the Prucha.
I too didn't like the mat finish on the Hartford, beutiful american maple hidden under low sheen finish. So a couple of hours work with some automotive cut and polish brought up to near gloss. looks great now.
