As I expected from the brilliant John McEuen, A Night In The Ozarks is a wonderfully well produced and directed film about the legendary Dillards. It's an absolutely wonderful gathering of the Dillards playing in there living room and back porch. The film makes you feel like you are right there with them playing all there famous songs and with Mr Dillard senior playing a bit of fiddle and doing some buck dancing. For a guy like me from Canada would never in a million years have the opportunity to sit in with the Dillards to experience one of there home jam sessions. This is what is great with this film, it actually gives you that down home Dillard experience. It's an absolute must to have this one in your DVD collection, and you will savour every moment. The nice part for all you banjo pickers out there is that the camera angles show Doug's picking quite well. I already had his banjo style book and this DVD is a bonus. Do yourselves a favour and pick up a copy. You won't be disapointed.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
Robert.

I'm guessing that the topic line is the name of the DVD?
Sounds like a good one, right up there with, "The Three Pickers", (Amazon).

I am a Dillard fan and I agree this is a very well produced DVD. I was very dissapointed with the overproduced Ricky Skaggs Nashville/Hollywood extravaganza of the Three Pickers. I expected to see and hear Earl, Doc and Ricky pick. This would have been wonderful. However what was "over" produced was a cast of a bunch of current big name pickers which minimized the experience of the three (main) pickers doing what they do so well. I was very dissapointed with the Skaggs, Three Picker DVD. The Dillard DVD is very good.

I have that DVD and it is GREAT. I particularily find intriguing the extremely long introduction where the Dillards are playing 'Banjo in the hollow' while the cars travels up the road to get to thier house. It is one of the longest introductions I have ever seen. Just how can you play that tune for so long before it becomes boring.

Hey wait! Did you just beat me out on that on eBay last week? Man, the Dillards can do no wrong. I like the late-60s early 70's stuff best though. Herb Penderson (replacing Doug) was amazing in those days.

One of my favorite scenes of the DVD was Rodney's wife frailin' and their dad dancing. Pure rural Americana at it's best.

Great DVD, great music, real down home back porch experience. A welcome addition to my library of bluegrass DVDs and CDs. And yes Scott, the title of his post is the name of the DVD.
