does anyone out there own a price banjo case, how does it compare to a calton case and which would you recommend. With calton cases going up in price, I'm looking for the best deal I can get, but I also want top quality in a weatherproof, airline rated case.

Price cases are very heavy,they are a little off balance too.I have also been told they do not hold the banjo as securlely as they should.Some folks like them, others
like myself prefer the calton - even though they are more expensive.

Well they are somewhat heavier than the Calton, but my experience is I prefer the Price case.
I have not noticed my Price being off center at all, and I surely like the way that it holds the banjo inside better. I also like the two inside compartments on the inside, which I'm sure you've heard about before, that allow you to open both without removing the banjo.
I had a Calton case still in nearly new condition. I ordered a new Price case, and decided to keep the one I liked best, and sell the other on the hangout. I kept the Price case, it just seemed like it would hold up, and protect the banjo better. I don't think the Price is as close in comparison of cases to the Calton as it is the Mark Leaf cases (and they weighed more than either the Price, or the Calton.
Al at Calton is a great guy and works hard to make a good case, but you will probably have to wait for months, also paying a whole lot more for the Calton.
Gary at Price cases, is also a great guy (You can't keep from liking him) makes "The Case", and can usually have one at your front door within a week. Farley

I bought a Price when I couldn't find a Calton in time for my new banjo.

All in all, I'm pleased with it. Have had no problems with the case not holding the banjo securely. It IS heavy, but not hugely more than Calton. The only thing I DON'T like about it is that it tends to flop over when the lid is up and there's no banjo in the case - it has rubber feet on the bottom and the open lid moves the center of gravity sufficiently outboard of the midline that it leans over.

That's a minor annoyance. Not that I'm gonna test this, but I have a feeling I could drive my car over the case without harming the banjo.

One thing about those two pickbox compartments - it is indeed VERY nice having access to these without pulling the banjo from the case. OTOH, this configuration produces two fairly-good-sized junk collectors, and if you're anything like me, you WILL fill them both. Didn't have that problem with my old TKL.
