Picks: Blue Chip Thumb Pick

Submitted by VitaminJ on 5/29/2015

Where Purchased: Blue Chip

Overall Comments

I have had the Blue Chip Thumb pick (JD Large) for about 6 months. I just want to comment that this is the most comfortable thumb pick that I have used. I don't have overly large hands but plastic picks were alway too tight and following tips on how to mold the plastic (boiling etc) just led to ruined picks. This pick still looks brand new and I can play for hours without it slipping or turning my thumb purple. The shipping and packaging were great as well. It was certainly worth the extra dollars.

Mike's Banjo Mute: 5-string Standard Model

Bottom line - next to my banjo, this is my favorite banjo purchase to date.

I was previously using a Gold Tone mute with mixed results. Mike's Mute blows it away. It is well crafted and much more substantial than the Gold Tone mute. I actually find it easier to move on and off the bridge than the Gold Tone.

The best part is the sound. It is quiet enough to practice in a room with family and has a unique sound that is closer to an acoustic guitar. Sometimes, I will throw on the mute just to have a change of pace from the hard driving banjo sound we all know and love.

Mike has done a great job here and has created a quality product that would be at home in anyone's banjo case.
