Sound

Incredible sound ! Play it hard and it has all the punch you could ask for I was really shocked ! Then played softly it produces a very nice warm old tyme sound .The rim produces a very deep bass which I really like yet has ,crystal clear bell like treble the intonation is spot on to the last fret on the neck !

Sound Rating: 10

Setup

The action was set up just right, string spacing was perfect this was nothing I ordered or asked for just happened to be the way he built it . Jason used evo fretwire which is another plus . This banjo plays very well for me . Jason builds the neck with a v type shape similar to an old dobson neck it has a great feel to it . I love it !

Setup Rating: 10

Appearance

The Banjo is very simple but elegant he used a very highly figured Ebony on the peghead and fretboard . The rim is highly figured walnut around a laminated maple rim . The neck is also figured dark walnut The banjo is flawless in workmanship fit and finish is perfect att, to every detail .

Reliability

This banjo came with peghead tuners a first for me ,they work very well are light and keep the weight down , I have to add they are very easy to change strings . The rim hardware nuts , hooks and tail piece are from Bill Rickard the tension hoop was made by Jason in his shop . The tension hoop has a nice scoop cut out in it and all the hook nothches line up spot on

Reliability Rating: 10

Jason is a small builder who puts great care and workmanship into his builds , they do not come up for sale often and are built by hand one at a time .  Again this banjo has great sound and is built rock solid .   I am sure it will last a lifetime .    I would Highly recommend a Mogi banjo !!
