I had to get a banjo mute eventually, because I practice a lot in a small room, and when it gets late I was concerned about distrubing my neighbours. So I found mikesbanjomute.com and checked it out. I have seen lots of utube vids about them and was a bit dubious about how they actually reduced the level of sound to an acceptable level. You can see and listen to a video demonstration on his site. Let me tell you, IT DOES WORK! I was Very surprised by how Quite my banjo sounded. To be honest, I took it off played a tune without it, then put it back on to see if I was dreaming.
