It suits my intended use perfectly I wanted a banjo with a mellow, but true note tone and note sustainability. It has that full rich tone that I wanted in an open back. I have never heard another banjo as good as this one. I play Gospel music and this makes the most beautiful music. I also have a Gibson RM 250 and in comparison the Gibson sounds much brighter.

Action was set-up as I desired. Dialing in the bridge once I got the banjo was very easy. I also did note mapping of all strings and all the frets (the whole fret board) and was very pleased with the trueness of the notes along the entire range.

Walnut neck and pot, tung oil finish, antique brass everywhere else. I provided a picture that Bill Rickard used to do the inlay in the peghead which turned out as good as I had hoped it would. I have purfling bands around the outside and inside of the pot with an ebony cap on the bottom of the pot and the neck heel. The fret board, I wanted to keep it simple, just dots. It all came together beautifully.

Top flight hardware no junk. I wanted the antique brass finish as it is low maintenence. I have found that my Gibson with its chrome is a real pain to keep up and is getting that frosted look. Of course the Gibson is almost 40 year old.
