For the cost of a couple visits to the groomers, for our little shaggy mutts, we can buy a groomers table and clipper set. They arrive Monday. We don’t have a clue, but giving it a shot. Are we crazy? We’ve been taking them to the groomers for years, but it’s getting more expensive, and seems like throwing away money.

If you're going to groom the dog(s) yourself, just be careful around the face as you can really hurt a dog with those clippers if you aren't careful.
Mother used to groom poodles and I was her helper. We used clippers to clean around the feet, between the toes and that's another place to be careful.
Decide what pattern you want on your dog(s), long, medium, short and use the appropriate clipper head to get that size and shape.
Dog hair makes a mess, so if possible take it outside where it's easier to clean. If not possible, try to keep it contained to one room and sweep up the hair as often as you can.
Your pups may not appreciate your clipping them, so it may take some sweet talking and easing their fears of you doing the clipping.
I talke my poodle to the groomer and pay whatever I have to as I don't have the patience for it any more and dislike the mess it makes.
Good luck!
