Hi folks. It has been a while since I last posted here, life got busy! Anyway, I wanted to make a post telling you all I have begun adding to my Banjo Masters interview series again. I recently interviewed a great banjo builder- Greg Galbreath, of Buckeye Banjos- and made a very quick (and un-fancy) video of a tour of his shop where he explained how he does inlay and engraving, how he makes rims etc. Both of these are now posted on my Banjomasters.com website for free viewing (along with my interviews of Geoff Stelling, Tom Nechville, Jens Kruger, Butch Robins, Gina Furtado, John Bullard, Rex McGee, Hank Smith, and Sammy Shelor. Have a look!
Greg makes open back banjos and is known for his meticulous workmanship and his inlay and engraving artistry. I have known Greg for years and have always been totally blown away when I see or play one of his banjos. I had him make me one 2-3 years ago and it is a stunner in every way. I think people who own a Buckeye Banjo would all agree that he is doing something special in his little shop in Eggleston, VA. He has some pretty cool clients too- Curtis Eller, Scott Avett, Kurt Vile to name a few. Greg is a cool and easy going guy and I really enjoyed making this video with him.
