Just to flag up that this banjo offered on eBay is currently incorrectly attributed to Weaver and priced as if it were a Weaver build:

I have messaged the seller requesting the listing details are amended. Though I doubt this request will be heeded.

The sellers reply:

“Thanks for pointing this out. I never claimed it was a Weaver.”

Go figure. I’d advise giving this German-based seller as well as this banjo a very wide berth.

I just hope no-one is deceived into buying this believing that it is a Weaver-build.

With people in the US, every banjo is either a “Vega” or “Stewart” (and recently add Buckbee).

This still happens, esp on Facebook, “what is this banjo” … “that is a Vega” (it is a Kay).

On the other side of the pond it seems to be “Weaver”. For years we were told that Weaver made the CE Professional, CE Wood Hoop Specials and all the Metal Hoop Specials. Now I’ve noticed a shift that every banjo was “made by CE”.

I think that people will learn a name and just go with it. AI has made it worse.
