Hello,
I paid for my annual subscription, $20, in June of 2026. I confirmed my subscription doesn't expire until 2027 when I looked at my account. I have not gotten any newsletters in months now. In looking online, I see a couple were sent out in May 2026, and then again one was sent in August. Nothing since in the archives. I updated my password today and did get an email confirmation from Eric at the usual email the newsletters come from. They are not blocked by my emails on my blocked sender's list.
Have the newsletters discontinued for some reason? I enjoyed reading these, the music was great on the videos, and the forum topics were interesting. Please let me know what happened. I'd sent Eric 2 emails to inquire this month but have not heard back.

I got this a while back.

Hi - it's an update from Banjo Newsletter, the world's only 5 string banjo magazine complete with tabs and articles.

You are getting this email because you've signed up for email updates about new issues of the magazine coming in the future.

If you have been wondering what we have been up to--we have actually been changing!

Here is a quick rundown of what's been going on…

BNL in the past:

-50 years ago, Hub Nitchie (my grandpa) founded the magazine.

-30 years ago, after his passing, his sons, Donald and Spencer Nitchie, began running the magazine.

-In 2021 when Spencer (my dad) passed away very suddenly, new issues of the magazine went on hiatus as a result.

My uncle Donald decided to retire from editing the magazine, too.

BNL in the present:

Hi, it's me, Sofia Nitchie, the new owner of Banjo Newsletter.

I'm now following in my dad, Spencer's, footsteps as publisher and business manager for Banjo Newsletter and continuing the family legacy.

I also moved BNL headquarters from the east coast USA to the midwest: Wisconsin.

And another funny thing is that--I just had a baby late December 2025!

Because I am still figuring out how to raise a baby and run a magazine…

During this time, my assistant will continue to provide customer support for our online archive at banjonews.com .

If you are a customer and have issues with your digital order, simply email office@banjonews.com to get in touch with our team.

Now, about new issues of Banjo Newsletter:

As soon as I am able, I will be back to work to resume the publishing of Banjo Newsletter, and getting lots of help to do it.

Yes, that means new print and digital issues coming soon, late 2026!

Thank you to all who have been supportive of the magazine, past and present, and who are eager to see it come back.

Resuming publication is a long term process with a lot of details to sort out, but this is the direction we want to go.

We will send you an email as soon as we have updates about new issues of Banjo Newsletters.

That's all for today

--but I have one quick favor:

Can you please shoot me a quick reply to this email so I know you got this okay?

Just let me know your first name (or say anything really).

Thanks! It's a small thing but it will really help me know that this email reached you successfully. Plus it tells the internet gods that you want my future emails about BNL.

Thanks!

Sofia Nitchie, BNL

Hey Sofia,
So when was the last issue of BNL sent out? I got one in April this year, but nothing since. I see online a few issues were created in May and 1 in August. I did not get those sent to me, but found them online and could view them.
Do you know when the next issue of BNL will be forthcoming so I can keep an eye out for it?
The BNL's used to come from Eric Schlange. Is he still with BNL? I wasn't sure how he fit in the mix.

thanks, I did get your email reply. I'd sent a couple of inquiries to Eric at his usual email address, asking about my subscription, and he never responded.

This is a very confusing thread.  There seems to be some confusion between Banjo Hangout and Banjo Newsletter, separate entities.  Banjo Hangout sends out periodic emails with highlights from the Forums and links to other sources.  There have recent questions about the frequency of BHO ermails, with some folks saying they have not received them. Banjo Newsletter ceased physical publication but continues with digital descriptions which allow access to the archives of the magazine.

I appreciate Bob Buckingham's post with the engthy quote from Sofia Nitchie.  I have a digital subscription to BNL but was not aware that there were  occasional emails or newsletter from her.  I will look into that and respond to her.

So which newsletter source  is the OP seeking help with?

Banjonewsletter has nothing to do with Banjohangout (as said above).

If you aren't receiving copies of the Banjohangout Newsletter, check to see if you are prescribed. If you are, check your spam folder to see if maybe that's where it went.

It has been a while since we've had a newsletter. I don't think they come weekly anymore.

Thanks, I am subscribed. I paid back in June and they got the money. The BNL isn't blocked on my blocked sender's list either. I got an email after sending it from here today, so I should be getting the newsletters, if there are any.

David Brooks,
I was getting regular newsletters from Eric@banjohangout.org up until a few months ago. It was called the newsletter. Also, saw in your post:
So which newsletter source is the OP seeking help with?
Can you clarify what an 'OP' is?
Much appreciated,
Jim

Hi, Jim. OP is short for Original Poster. I think your concern is with the BHO newsletters which have gotten pretty spotty lately. You're not the only one who has asked about this in the past week or so.

It looks like the last BHO "weekly" newsletter I got was in August. (I tried to paste an image but it failed.) Eric is the one who can address your issue. Sofia at Banjo Newsletter will be no help.

Thanks for responding, David. I've emailed Eric twice this month and got no response. I did find the one newsletter for August you mentioned. I'll work through alternate channels to get a refund.
