Fernando Sor was one of the most prominent and prolific guitar players and composers of the 19 century. Of Spanish origin, he spent much of his life based in Paris, France. He composed his Opus 35 around 1828, after touring in Russia and England. Other classical guitarists who performed on the steel string guitar, although sparingly, are Ben Verdery and Andrew York.
