Was his orig 5 string refinished? Did he have the ball bearing tone tube assembly flipped, so it appeared more like a flathead than archtop? Thanking you in advance for your comments.

do you have photos of the banjo youre asking about? I know he played a 50s/60s 250 and some other banjos in his day but not sure i know which one youre asking about.

I always thought Haskell's old Gibson was a 1928 40 hole RB-3

I don’t have any pix, it was on YouTube, some video with Lester Flatt, I think at bean blossum, with Roland White on mandolin and Josh still on dobro. Lester had on white pants and shirt with fancy black jacket. I thought I’d read where Haskell played stock 26 ball bearing rb-3. It had the diamond inlays like 25 and 26. Couldn’t tell if there was any arch to the head, but from resonator sides it looked lighter color than my 26 style 3. Which is why I wondered if it had perhaps been refinished lighter than the reddish color mine is.
