I think you'd all be surprised at how many Data Centres are already within your areas. Obviously not all of them are going to be water guzzling AI mega DCs but our pictures of what we had for dinner, banjo tabs, bank info etc all have to be stored somewhere.

AI is worthy of deep scrutiny by very smart people.

.... and IMNSHumbleO, those very smart people are worthy (?) of deep scrutiny by John Q. Public. 

Maybe in Maine they elect MENSA members, not so much down here.

Maine has very smart people.
My Grandfather was very smart.
He and his brother left school when they were around 10 years old and set tub trawls for groundfish and dug clams to support their family after their Father died on Hupper's Island from appendicitis.

He built his own 45' purse seiner/dragger in 1945 and then turned around and built a 48' "sister ship" for one of the guys on the crew of the first one.

Gramp made a fine living for himself and his family and tithed 10% all his life.
He bought a new car about every 5 years and helped a lot of people that needed help.

I believe in self-made people.

I don't want data centers here because I want to be left alone.

Data centers are going up in poorer locations because it's very difficult for low-income people to hire expensive lawyers.

My point was the only ones left to run for office are knuckleheads, because everyone else knows better. Now explain to said knucklehead the pitfalls of A.I. or ever a game of Jax. I see a problem. I don't see a solution.

Knuckleheads??   Ya mean like my brother who served a couple of terms on municipal council?   ... or my dad who was a long-term municipal reeve?   ... or my Uncle Max, who although not an elected representative was nonetheless quite active in MB provincial politics, back in the day?

I asked Google AI about Canadian politicians ... it came up with:
