Needs a little fine tuning and setup, but have finally got #4 to playable. I had a long break after seriously screwing up and having to re-start the neck from scratch. Played it in a session yesterday, and it held up pretty well.

Rim and neck are from a piece of Black Walnut I've had for a while, Birdseye Maple was given to me by a friend. I put the veneer (Tas Oak) on the fingerboard because it was quite a thin piece of Ebony, but I like how it looks, so I'll do it again. Tone ring is rolled brass rod, head is goatskin.

Interesting to me is the difference in the appearance between the neck and the rim, in spite of being from the same slab - I think because I sanded the rim on the lathe, so got higher polish?

I have enough of the Walnut and Birdseye for two more banjos, and have Dobson tone rings for them. #5 is Queensland Maple, and nearly finished.
