What can yall tell me about these banjos? Guy says it’s an early 20’s model
My pictures aren’t in the right format, but it has a pearloid fingerboard. I don’t see any like it on google images. Are these rare?

Dixie Wonder 510 on sticker
Supposedly came from a 93 year old man at an estate sale who said it was his brothers and it sat in a closet for 40 years. He paid $250 for it 60 years ago. That seems odd considering the Supertone banjos are inexpensive.
This particular model, with the celluloid fingerboard, seems to have first been introduced to the market in Spring of 1932.

Looking further, this model seems to be gone by 1936 and replaced with a resonator banjo. What is interesting is that these are 515 and not 510. I must be missing something.

Regarding the "12 lessons", sadly I do not have a copy of that to scan and share. I do have the Chicago Correspondence School of Music published by Slingerland (which is not very good).
For all I know it could be the very same course that was sent out by Sears.

Supertone name was dropped in 1941, replaced by Silvertone. I have a five string Supertone, it’s decent but not worth much. I think I paid $150 a couple years ago. No way he paid $250 that long ago, I imagine more like $25. Time does distort memories. I once bought a Martin from an old guy who swore it was a 1928, however, it was instead a D-28.
