I have a 54 rb 250 archtop all original it has cosmetic wear.back of the neck , reso scratches neck has been repaired otherwise it plays fantastic has Cam tuners original. Would or should I have it redone or would it harm the value Greg Cahill played it in Chicago and said it has great sound and volume.ive had it for 50 years. Just wondering?
Never refinish antiques.
The wear marks are called "character." Leave it alone as long as it plays okay.
If you're down to bare wood on the back of the neck, you might consider protecting that area with a bit of overspraying or french polishing, but Brett's right.
If nothing is busted/unplayable, it's always better to leave it as it is.
Don't do it.

My opinion only:
If a resonator has gotten worn down to "bare wood", then a refinish will save it from further deterioration.
I don't see any sense on letting such wear go untreated (at all).
Patina is ok.
Bare wood is not.
