Here is a break by Codie Allen. I love its timing. When you hear it, how can you stop bobbing your head and shoulders? What makes his break have such a rhythmic presence or force? Can it be defined & taught?

There's nothing bad about the banjo break, but that rhythm section is what's doing the work!! (I'm biased though, that's my buddy on guitar!)
Well done, but no more than you should expect from a competent working banjo player.
Definitely a straight break. It sounds like he is playing right on, if not slightly behind the beat. This sounds slightly different than a banjo that is pushing the song forward with a lot of drive. I like it
Well hes certainly playing with some bounce. And at just the right tempo .
some day I would like to see some top dogs all preform a simple identical forward roll over and over same speed straight as possible , I think they vary quiet a bit,I feel like he slides into the beat slightly,his feel for it--Casey Murphy who does lessons on the vid page,sure gets it pro ,of course she had a great teacher
