^^ like working on some* house renos .... makes you wonder whether or not levels, squares and plumb-bobs were a thing back then.

* NOT our present house ... the guy was uncommonly particular ... not even any globs (?) of solder at the joints.

Brad ...... I am always amazed when I do a project such as that .... or plumbing ..... electrical, etc. and it works when I am finished.  I replaced the major control interface on my dishwasher the other day and voila, it didn't work.  I'm pretty good at replacing parts, but not at diagnosing problems.  Bottom line, since repairing the dishwasher will cost half as much as a new one, we decided to just buy a new one.  Oh well!

I rebuilt a carburetor (remember those?) for a 1969 Chev pickup on our kitchen table back in the day. A neighbour dropped in , took a look at my fumbling, and said,”Ha, it’ll never work!”
An hour later I spit gravel on his front yard….

Last time I cleaned the old Rochester 1-throat was easy. I bought a gallon can of parts cleaner and submersed the whole thing in the cleaner and let it soak a day or so. Blew it dry, checked jet and float etc and put it back on with a bew gasket. On I went. Brad

I had to invade the carburetor on my mower the other day after it quit on me. The only metal on the thing were a pin and a jet, I think. Brad

good for you brad... shade tree fixed many a problem in my day !

we got a dead dishwasher too,, fire ball flew out of the bottom so i just killed the breaker,,,, been washing by hand for a year now,,,, and really don't mind it too much.. since i do most of the cooking and kitchen duties washing dishes is just one of them .  its not so much a chore when i do them as i go.... but almost got enough saved back for a new one soon.
