Listening to Flatt & Scruggs. Earl on his leads he is playing straight time (think Fireball mail) When he plays back up its really syncopated and Bouncy. Syncopation and bounce are two separate things. One is the byproduct of another. That's why Earls backup drives me nuts because his band was backing up his back up. They orchestrated the music so everyone playing could be heard and not step on each other.( with just one mic) You could tell Earl preferred to backup Singers. So cool
