I’m going to have a go a building a partial resonator like the lovely ones Mark Hickler makes (first pic)
I’m wondering about the pros and cons of grain alignment.
If the wedges are cut across the grain (sketch “A”), the grain will run tangent to the rim and one might even be able to achieve a bookmarch look with careful alignment. However, the glue joints will be mostly end grain.
If the edges are cut with the grain (sketch “B”), the grain will be normal to the curve and the glue joints won’t be end grain.
Is there any guidance to be had about aesthetics, joint strength and wood movement in either example?

A is way easier to cut than B. The glue joints in A will be strong enough if you size them with glue first before the final glue up.
re. aesthetics, why not one of each?
