Hi i have a banjo in the shop its a Gibson Mastertone with a serial number 4-9403-22. It keeps comming up as a pre war era banjo, can someone help determand the actual year. Insise tag shows made in Tennesee

That is a Style 4 made in 1994. Not pre-war at all. The "4" prefix is in the style of the Gibson 1990s and 2000s reissue models.
