Decades ago, I was supposed to inherit my grandpa’s treasured banjo, but through a misunderstanding all of his belongings ended up going to a neighbor. I was disappointed, but at that time I was young and did not play. Now that I have learned guitar piano, and a little bit of banjo, I’m interested in tracking it down. It was last known to be in the Ionia Michigan area in the 1990s , and it’s pretty distinct- a Washburn with his Phi Kappa Psi fraternity inlaid on the back. From the research I’ve done it doesn’t sound like the banjo is particularly valuable, but as a piece of my family history, it’s always been in the back of my mind that I would like to track it down. This seems like a good place to start.

Most music shops have a bulletin board somewhere. Put a wanted poster up at ones in the Iona region

Good luck with your search it could take some time, don’t give up. In the meantime it would be nice if you could find an identical banjo to fill in time.
