I've used the short one for banjos.
Banjos have a low center of gravity.

I did not buy this. If I were a "luthier" I would have these printed with my info like a business card and give them away.

Even with a 90 degree phono plug, it's gonna be problematic with an end-pin jack.
My word, the horrors I've seen resulting from guitar stands and gravity. Bar stages are crowded. People drink. Things happen.

If I wanted a stand like this, I'd buy the nice one that Sosobee makes. They're in the BHO classifieds, nice piece of woodwork. And stable, too.

what could possibly go wrong?

I have a little more beefy version. But you notice which banjo is on it. I used to use it in the bars. Then one night after a break, I was headed back on the stage, as our guitar player, hoisted his guitar up to put it on, and the guitar cord caught the head of my banjo, and pulled it forward, off the stand. I dove, and caught my banjo 3” above the floor. Disaster avoided, some folks applauded, and that stand has never seen the public since. I’m a caser now, anywhere but my music room... truth be told, that stand resides in a bottom dresser drawer, the only time I get it out is for pictures. All my banjos live on the wall. I never case a banjo at home. I've probably added thousands of hours of playing over the years, because I can see them begging me to play them.

I like the full-length Hercules stand w/automatic locking at the peghead.

I must confess though...I did use an $11 Hamilton stand for nearly 20 years.

I was given a K & M stand at a gig last Sunday.
When I put my banjo in it I turned the resonator out and had the strings bearing on the upper pad.
Very stable and the previous owner said "I might have liked it better if I'd turned my banjo around."

I'm thinking of gluing on a couple pieces of plastic to the sides of the upper hinge-pad to add a bit of extra insurance.

That’s what I have. I don’t use it playing out anymore, but will use it in my pet and kid free music room.

Some places just don't have enough room to include your case.
Stands have their place.Telling everyone to not touch your banjo while you take a p:ss ought to keep it from falling.

I played 2 sets at the Transportation Museum in Rockland,yesterday.It was "Truck Day" and the weather was perfect.
White Freightliner and Six Days on the Road were well received.
Between sets I left my banjo on my newly acquired K&M stand because my case was underneath a Mercer Racer.
It was very easy to pick up out of the stand when I returned from a look-around.
Great museum of everything on wheels,including chain driven trucks and bi-plane rides.Been playing there for a while.
