Hi all,
Apologies for the lack of knowledge but I have inherited a banjo…. I believe it is a ‘Grover’ and appears quite vintage. It’s not really any use to me so will probably sell it on. The trouble is I have absolutely no idea what it is worth, so was hoping someone could help with a rough valuation before I put it up for sale.
If anyone here is interested please feel free to get in touch.
Hopefully I can add a photo if I can work this forum out!
Thanks in advance!
Hi and thanks for replying quickly.
This forum thinks I’m sending spam so blocks my reply’s and photo uploads for some bizarre reason. So I’ll try again!
I’ve found some markings which say JG Abbot London. Are you familiar with this company? The ‘Grover Nontip’ is written on the bridge.
Thanks for your help,
Dan

Check out this excellent website to find your instrument & it's history.
Warwick Grover did indeed make banjos. I believe he may have had a connection with Bill Forster a great picker. They had a small workshop in Coventry which I visited several times to discuss specifications etc.
He made one for me aprox. 50yrs ago which I still have and play daily.
A great quality intstrument.
The banjo pictured is not one of theirs.
Kind regards,
Clive.
