Ah yes, putting the spouse on notice from the git-go. I love folk music, old time music, and of course the banjo. I once gave up a rock and roller girlfriend because I knew I could not give up such a large part of who I really am. Hours and hours doing things I did not want to do and hours and hours NOT doing the things I enjoy. Some things are just not compromisable (to invent a much needed word!). It's 5:30 in the morning, I am headed out back to play banjo....banjered
Many of you who know me, and to those of you who do not - I have been dealing with the banjo collection of a dear friend who passed away almost ten years ago. Before he passed, he asked me "would I help him / and his family get rid of his instruments." I "thought" he had maybe 20 or 25 banjos..... after he passed, and we finally got them all gathered up - turns out he actually had about 180 banjos. plus a few of everything else (guitars, mandos, fiddles, basses, dobros. PLUS a lot of parts and accessories). So... an agreement, or at least as far as I'm concerned, a promise is a promise.... so, from my perspective, 15 banjos simply isn't that many!! I am aware of a few folks who have even more than 180... at some point it begins to be comical. Or mental....
I’m kinda a basic guy it doesn’t take much to satisfy me. I started feeling “ kind of “ bad when I had 6 , thinking… someone could be enjoying a couple of these , so I sold down to 2 banjos. It felt good …. For about a week. Now I’m back to four . What would one do with one hundred plus banjos ? Like I said it doesn’t take much to get me by, but apparently at least 5 banjo’s.
