New to banjos in general and just acquired this vintage looking Banjo. Was wondering if anyone could help identify rhe manufacturer, or provide any other info about the banjo based on the attached pics. Thanks in advance.

You need more pix. The 3-pic limit is per post, so you can post many more.

Based on the 3 pictures provided, it looks to be a Stomberg Voisinet product.

Could it be a neck made by Wyatt Fawley?

The metal flange around the rim and the neck brace on the dowel are typical of 1930s Harmony. I cant see the headstock outline due to lack of contrast.

I wonder if it could be a neck by Wyatt Fawley also.

No, that picture is from the bottom side of the head. From the linited research I’ve done I think it may be a Ludwig/Five Star head.

You may not be familiar with 5 string banjos, but that is a left-handed instrument.

Do us a favor, please, step back a few feet and take a picture of the entire banjo from the front, and one of the entire banjo from the back-side.

Lean it up against a couch when you take the pictures.....and out of the case.

Fasley neck, as it says.

What is the shell diameter?

I’m thinking an Stromberg pot with a much newer neck by Wyatt Fawley. He did do a number of odd conversions as he was up for any challenge in that regards. One of the best neck builders out there when he was with us.

Somebody here will most likely recognize the instrument and who it originally belonged to as Wyatt was very active on this site back when.

I did some research on Stromberg pots and it definitely looks like it could be a Stromberg with a Fawley neck. Thanks for the comments and information!

I assume the difference in value between a Stromberg and a Stromberg Voisinet is significant? I can’t find any marking or serial numbers anywhere on the inside or outside of the resonator.

Every time I've seen that "triforce" flange with the triangle cut-outs, its been on a Harmony product, not S-V. Neck is definitely not Harmony though, looks high quality enough to be an actual Fawley neck I suppose.

The Stromberg expert is Vinnie Mondello. He’d know if that’s a Stromberg pot.

Generally, yes, sort of....   But whichever yours is, the pot's not of a level that has any special collectible value.  Wyatt Fawley's necks are excellent, but his name doesn't command any particular premium that I've seen. And it's a left-handed banjo, which of course means your potential buyers are a small minority of the (not so big) banjophile community...

IOW, you aren't going to pay off the mortgage with that one.  A month's rent might even be too optimistic.

Thanks. Since I’m not left handed I don’t think it will do me much good. Lol. Anyone want to offer an opinion of what it is worth? I guess I’ll try to sell it since I can’t play it.
