A bunch of different companies. Early stuff was by Bauer, later stuff was by Harmony, a few in the middle were from Martin. There were probably others, some of which are tough to identify. I'm not sure who was building taropatches aside from Martin.

That was a brand owned by the music jobber Buegeleisen & Jacobson in NYC. They were made by the same people making other instruments for B&J-- everyone and anyone that would do private label work.

You should post that with full pictures in a uke group. Martin made ukes for B&J that were sold with that label, so did other companies at the same time, a uke group could help you id if thats a martin made on or something else. You probably wont get much farther with the banjo crowd with this.

I've got a very nice SSS soprano uke from the B&J years. When I got it some Google "research" suggested that B&J bought ukes in from Gibson, Martin and one of the lesser Chicago makers (can't remember which). I'm guessing mine is from the lesser maker.

Slingerland made quite a few tenor & banjo ukes marked S S Stewart. I regularly play a banjo uke stamped S S Stewart Collegian 10.
