Hello everyone.
My wife has been given this instrument (is it good english?) ??
It looks like banjo mandoline but not sure of it...
I tried to identify the manufacturer but i don't see any words or signs on it...maybe inside but i'm not sure it is good to open it ??
Any ideas?

Yes, banjo mandolin. I have no idea of who made it, but it does appear to be a well-made instrument.

I suspected as much. I know almost nothing about French-made banjos, but it did sort of have that look.
Perhaps you could post more pictures - close up of the pot (the round part) from the front, sides and back, as well as closeups of the peg head, front and back. We may be able to tell you how to easily open it up and take a look inside.

I have seen these before. Its alway difficult to ID these in terms of country of manufacture. I suspect French ior Italian but could be wrong. Definitely NOT ENglish because of the design and the zero fret (fretwire just beyond the nut.)
