Post a lot of photos of every part that you can. You will have to add pictures several times but get close up pictures of the side of the body (pot), the headstock, tuners, side of the neck, connection to the body and the rod that goes through the pot. This will help see what you have, what it needs and what it is worth.

Yeah, take this offer before they get wise.
I've seen them sell for a lot more than $350 once or twice, but that's not really the established market. They are odd enough that they have some appeal to non-banjo collectors, in part because if the aluminum construction, but you have to get lucky and find the right person.
A Google search of UK auction listings shows they regularly sell in the $250-$400 range. I'd take the $1000.

Agreed. I'm not sure how these fingerboards were attached originally, but those screws appear to be someone's attempt to bolster the original system.
